Twitter has become such a phenomenon, that there are thousands of persons who join Twitter on a daily basis. The curious thing about it is that most of them don`t have a clue on how to use it.
These new Twitter users are mostly persons who have heard about Twitter and want to be a part of it. To some Twitter is no longer a fun social networking site, but a serious networking and information gathering web source. This was indeed evident in the earthquakes that shook Haiti and Peru, and the political turmoil in Iran.
This information could not have reached the masses, except for the followers of those twitting the updates. Followers then “retweeted” the info and it spread like wildfire on the internet.
The key ingredient to being able to “tweet” on Twitter is being able to follow and have others follow you in return. Most new persons to twitter tend to seek others to have as followers. This is usually more easily said than done.
One of the easiest ways to get followers is to start “twitting” on the trending topic of the moment. This would increase your exposure to others following the trending topics. Having done this you are guaranteed to have a couple of followers.
Once you have gotten these followers it is advisable to follow them back. What this does is create a forum to tweet to their followers, as your tweets will be seen by them.
Persons who follow you and block their “tweets” are not contributing to you and helping you establish followers. What I tend to do is to block them, as they merely living of you and your information, and not contributing anything in return.
Tweets that you make should be on anything that is interesting and appealing. This can be on money making ideas, celebrity gossip, self help tips or current events.
“Retweets” that other Twitter users send should be “retweeted” as this helps to build bonds and continue your followers link base.
If you cannot identify topics to tweet about, then just sign up for any of the automated twitting programs. These include Revtwt and Twivert. These are simple to incorporate and and some even pay you to tweet on your account. Other programs like Ad.ly, and Twittad literally rent your account and pay you for twitting to your followers.
Followers will continually add themselves to your account as long as you provide “tweets” and have something for them to look forward to.
